Rock Climb: Index Town Wall

Took advantage of the winter sunshine and got a day in at Index with Ian Saturday. Arrived at 11am and because Ian's been nursing a finger injury that's kept him from climbing indoors, we were looking to work on moderate hand-friendly crack routes for the most part.  We started at Great Northern Slab on the Aries fist crack (5.8), then Sickle Crack (5.7) to the Aries roof/hand crack (5.8), topping out via the final pitch of Great Northern (5.6). For December the weather couldn't have been better: upper thirties in the sun felt pretty mild considering. Other than some chilly toes at the beginning I was comfortable all day. Anticipating cold hand jamming I had taped my hands, but that didn't prove necessary. We finished the day on Breakfast of Champions (5.10a), scrambling over to the anchors from the top of Great Northern, rappelling to the base of the crack and running a lap each on top-rope. I climbed it clean - that felt good. Ian followed and did an admirable job on his first Index 5.10a hand crack. Winter climbing rocks!
